A black, sleeveless dress from comme des garcons. The dress is from A/W 2002, which featured circular knit garments that could be fastened along the edges. Here it is the bodice which is circular, and when buttoned it creates a dramatic high neck which twists and folds over the body. There is a small opening at the waist which cannot be closed, with a flared, A-line skirt section attached to the bottom of the bodice.
The bodice portion is made from a thick black wool / nylon rib, with the skirt in a similar weight of fabric with a waffled texture. The dress has orange, melted polyester buttons most often seen on boiled polyester garments. As the care label notes, the edges of the dress have been left unfinished and will fray with use.
A picture has been included that shows a similar garment worn in the A/W 2002 runway presentation.
