Khaki wool necktie with steel tie ring by dirk bikkembergs, likely from spring 1998. A signature bikkembergs accessory produced in numerous variations during the 1990s, it combines a necktie and a ‘ring’ (here made of metal but also made in materials like leather) through which the tie can be fed. With the aid of an attached silver chain (worn around the neck to prevent the ring slipping down), the wearer can wear a tie without having to tie it, the ring holding the tie in place and, because it is shaped like one, acting as the tie knot, too.
